Please review before relying on this. This policy is written to be accurate and App-Store-ready, but it is not legal advice. Confirm the described data flows match the shipping build and have it reviewed by a legal professional for your jurisdiction. It must also match the “App Privacy” details entered in App Store Connect.

This Privacy Policy explains how RealorNot (“the App”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. The App is provided by Umut Demirci, operating as Soulware (“Soulware”), based in Türkiye. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@soulware.app.

1. The short version

RealorNot is an AI-content detector. You submit an image, text, or video, and the App returns a verdict — AI or Real — with a confidence score.
Your submitted content is processed transiently to produce a verdict and is not stored by us or retained to train any model.
Scan results — the verdict plus a small thumbnail — are stored only on your device. There are no user accounts and no sign-in.
We do not sell your data, do not track you across other apps, and use no advertising identifier.
You can delete your scan history in the App at any time; uninstalling the App removes the data stored on your device.

2. Information we collect

Content you submit (User Content)

To analyze content, you provide images, videos, and text that you choose to submit. This content is used only to perform the detection and return a verdict, and is processed transiently — see “How the AI detection works” below.

Scan results (stored on your device)

When a scan completes, the App saves the result — the verdict, the confidence score, the content type, a timestamp, and a small on-device thumbnail — to your device so you can review your history and stats. This information stays on your device; we do not keep a copy.

Purchases and subscriptions

RealorNot offers 3 free scans and an optional paid subscription (Pro) that unlocks unlimited scans and video detection. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We may receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status, but we never receive or store your card details — Apple handles payment under its own terms.

Diagnostics and analytics

To keep the App reliable and improve it, we use Sentry (crash diagnostics) and Mixpanel (product analytics). These collect limited technical information such as app version, device model, operating-system version, and general usage events. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising.

What we do not collect

We do not require an account, we do not access your Contacts, we do not collect your precise location, we do not sell your information, and we do not use an advertising identifier or serve ads. There is no App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt because we do not track you.

3. How we use information

To perform the detection you request and return a verdict with a confidence score and checkpoint breakdown.
To store your scan history and stats on your device.
To process and manage your subscription status.
To keep the App secure, diagnose crashes, understand which features help, and improve performance.
To respond to your questions and support requests, and to comply with legal obligations.

4. How the AI detection works

When you submit content, the media or text is sent over a secure connection to our detection backend and on to third-party AI-detection providers — Sightengine (sightengine.com) and AI or Not (aiornot.com) — solely to perform the analysis and return a verdict.

The content is processed transiently and is NOT stored by us, and it is not retained for training. For performance, our backend keeps only a non-reversible hash of the content so that identical future submissions can be served from cache — the hash cannot be used to reconstruct your original content. The detection result is a probabilistic estimate and may be wrong; it is not proof or a guarantee.

5. When we share information

We share information only with the service providers we rely on to run the App, and only as needed. We do not sell your personal information. Our service providers include:

Sightengine and AI or Not — process the content you submit to perform AI detection and return a verdict.
Cloudflare — hosts the lightweight backend that routes requests to the detection providers.
Apple — processes purchases and subscriptions through the App Store.
Sentry and Mixpanel — receive limited, non-identifying diagnostic and usage data to help us keep the App stable and useful.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.

6. Where your data is stored

Your scan history (verdicts and on-device thumbnails) is stored locally on your device. We do not operate user accounts or a central database of your content. The content you submit is transmitted to the detection providers described above only to produce a verdict, and is not retained afterward.

7. App permissions

Photos / Files — requested when you choose an image or video to analyze, used only for the content you select.

You can change or revoke permissions at any time in your device’s Settings.

8. Data retention and deletion

Content you submit is processed transiently and is not stored by us; our backend retains only a non-reversible hash for result caching. Your scan history remains on your device until you delete it — you can delete individual scans or clear your history inside the App, and uninstalling the App removes the on-device data. Diagnostic and analytics data is retained for a limited period in aggregate, non-identifying form. To ask us about data we may hold, email hello@soulware.app.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict its use, to object to certain processing, and to data portability.

EEA / UK (GDPR): you may exercise the rights above and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Because your scan history stays on your device, you control much of it directly within the App.
California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

10. Children’s privacy

The App is intended for a general audience, is rated 4+, and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure connections for data sent to our service providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International data transfers

Our service providers (including the detection, analytics, and hosting providers) may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

13. Tracking

We do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and we do not use an advertising identifier. Analytics and crash data are used only to operate and improve the App and are not linked to your identity or used for advertising.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
